Print the vinyl and ship it to us - we handle the rest!

How Barricade Graphics Projects Work

  • When a store closes or a new tenant moves in, the landlord builds a temporary drywall barricade around the unit. During renovation, this surface is used for branding.
  • The vendor works with their regular print supplier, usually near their head office, to ensure colour consistency and layout control. The print company then contacts a local installer in the city where the store is opening.
  • Once the barricade is built and painted, we attend site to measure.
  • The printer produces the graphics on permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive vinyl, with or without laminate, and ships the panels to us.
  •  We coordinate with mall management and complete installation after hours.

This is a trade-only service for print companies, agencies, and sign providers.

Retail Barricades & Construction Hoardings

Most mall barricades are drywall temporary walls built during tenant transitions. They provide a flat substrate for full-coverage vinyl graphics.

In municipal language, this is often referred to as construction hoarding. In retail environments, the term barricade is more common. The installation process is the same.

Graphics are tiled into multi-panel sections and produced off-site. We install barricade graphics across Toronto and the GTA, including major enclosed shopping centres and retail power centres.

Measurement & Site Check

Measurement happens after the barricade is fully built and painted. Dimensions can change during framing. Doors, returns, bulkheads and base details are often different from drawings.

We measure full height, width variations, door placements, returns, and trim conditions. Surface condition is checked to confirm proper adhesion.

Accurate field measurement reduces reprints and layout problems. Dimensions are shared with the production team immediately.

Graphics Production & Shipping

The client’s print vendor produces multi-panel graphics on permanent adhesive vinyl. Laminate may be added for durability in high-traffic areas.

Panels are numbered and tiled according to layout. Shipments are checked upon arrival for damage or missing sections before scheduling installation.

We confirm quantities and panel order before the overnight install date.

Mall Coordination & Access

Installation dates are coordinated with mall operations. After-hours access is standard.

We provide current WSIB documentation and liability insurance certificates as required. If the barricade exceeds 17 feet in height, a scissor lift is arranged and approved in advance.

Installers sign in with security, collect badges, and move materials through designated service corridors.

Details about certification and coverage can be found on our Certified & Insured Installers page.

Overnight Barricade Installation

Installation typically runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Panel layout is reviewed before starting. The correct reference panel is identified to avoid reversal or sequencing errors.

Multi-panel alignment is maintained so text and imagery match at seams. Long panels require attention to vertical alignment and natural vinyl stretch.

Floors are protected. Waste is removed. The storefront is left ready for public access the next morning.

Proof-of-installation photos are sent to the client immediately after completion.

Installation Considerations on Large Barricades

Large storefront runs can exceed several hundred or several thousand square feet. Layout planning is important before committing the first panel.

Alignment across seams must remain consistent over long distances. Minor drift compounds over length and becomes visible quickly.

Vinyl can stretch slightly during application, especially on tall sections. Installers account for this to maintain straight lines.

Fresh paint must be properly cured before application. Adhesion is checked on site.
